Discusses Leggett's activities and views in favor of the abolitionist movement, and the personal sacrifices he has made for his beliefs. He also mentions the newspapers PLAINDEALER and NEW ERA, and his desire for a medium through which to express his political viewpoint. In particular Leggett tells of the possible reestablishment of the PLAINDEALER, with him as head of the political department.
